I asked and FB friends answered. Mass shootings are an overwhelmingly male activity. I'd rather get rid of high volume weaponry, improve mental health services tremendously, study root/cures of male rage/sexual violence and fix them, but perhaps we need to rethink men?

It’s amazing how hard we look to not see the male violence all around us. Mass shootings are but one subset of male violence. Who run gangs? Who start wars? Who beats women and abuses children? Who kills other men? Overwhelming it’s men. When are we gonna talk about it?

No surprise to us - mass shootings are linked to male perpetrators of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.

Pointing out that the majority of mass shootings in the US are carried out by male white conservatives is political. Saying gun violence could be reduced by removing the easy access to guns is just common sense and demonstrable by other countries

Actually a good article that explains why men are more likely to use violence and in the US that means firearms. But why is the word “white” installed in the headline? The stats it gives on white people: 60% of the population; 63% of mass shootings. So it’s a male problem.

  15. The US President seeks greater authoritarianism and predictive tech to prevent mass shootings, when we know it is baked in white supremacy and the alienation of patriarchy and capitalism that drives the violence of white male shooters.

Let’s talk. (A thread) As a white American male, I’m going to speak for the subset of us that exist and say this: There is not a single young professional, free & fair thinking, moderate white male that believes mass shootings and gun violence is acceptable. (1/7)

Yes, cause open borders are the reason for the mass shootings. NOT. Theyre done by WHITE, MALE, AMERICAN, CITIZENS. These horrific acts of violence are Directly caused by Trump and Co. His rhetoric and Us vs Them propaganda are what is causing this

Mass shootings in the US are the product of white male entitlement leading to resentment and a vengeful mentality. Men are taught that violence is the proper response to being slighted or wronged, especially by those who "should" show deference to white male desires.

And never mind that being 1) white 3) male and 3) a perpetrator of domestic violence is the profile of someone more likely than any other to commit acts of domestic terror with a gun, as in mass shootings. Forget all that and obsess over us scary brown/black people instead. 😒

FYI - sea lioning on this subject will get you blocked. If in the current climate of constant mass shootings in the US, your take is to try and blame mentally ill people instead of systematic white male privilege and violence Congrats, you're part of the problem.

  30. A few things common about most mass shootings in the US. It almost always involves a male; it almost always involves a gun; there is almost always a history of domestic dispute/violence; and almost always we will reduce it to mental health in a broad sense!

Mass shootings = male problem, but also = American cultural issue. Mental health issues are not only males of course. The only real difference between US males and males across the world is gun access. Violence by males NORMALLY ends in a few punches or at worst knife crime.
